Skin Infections That Are Bacterial
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010Bacterial infections start by gaining entrance into your skin by way of a cut, scrape, open wound, burn or even dry skin that is cracked. Once inside the layers of you skin bacteria can become bacterial skin infections such as an abscess, cellulitis, ecthyma, folliculitis, and also impetigo.
Most of us are familiar with the childhood bacterial skin infection known as impetigo. The first symptom of impetigo is redness that progresses to blisters. The blisters then become crusted over. Common areas to find impetigo are on the face around the nose. A deeper version of impetigo that is usually found on the legs is called ecthyma. Ecthyma can leave scar tissue.
